Technology has become an integral part of our daily ecosystem. It can aid our processes, but can also distract us from appreciating real connections. This project challenged me to design a Bluetooth speaker that would resonate not only with children but also with their parents.

Technology is growing ever more prominent in the lives of young parents. This is leading to a growing lack of interaction, crucial in early child development.
How can we design a speaker to influence the connection between first-time parents and their children?
"Thinking in the mindset of an infant"
A Child's Priorities...
Focus on simple, familiar, geometric shapes
Keep at a manageable size for a child to grab and hold
Look to add in elements of softness and warmth
Safe shapes and smooth surfaces, also ensure no choking hazard
Ease of Use
Keep simple for parent to interact with when primary focus is on the child
Keep price in mind for budget conscious buyer
I assumed at the end of the day the parents would be whom I'd have to win over. But upon researching the top 3 reasons parents buy toys found that the children's desires are still the leading factor.
Their Child's wants, desires, & wishes

Using MDF I worked out various forms and figured out the ideal hinge location. The material allowed for experimenting with chamfering and filleting.
